From June 27-29 the COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel will visit Du Quoin, IL, as a highlight of the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
The COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel, presented by Snap-On Tools, has become a popular and anticipated part of automotive events across the country. Attendees at the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals will be treated to the competition this year, with four duels taking place during the three-day event. The first competition will take place on Friday, June 27th at 3:00 p.m. The two Saturday duels are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and the final contest is set for 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
The Engine Builder Duel pits a pair of two-person teams head-to-head to determine which one can assemble and crank a Small Block Chevy engine in the shortest amount of time. The engine must run for one minute before a team is declared the winner. Armed with nothing but their knowledge, contestants are provided with the appropriate parts and tools to complete the build, and they may not ask for help from anyone in the audience. Both members of the winning team will receive a $250 COMP Cams® gift certificate, while runners up each get a $125 COMP® voucher. All of the 2014 participants will be trying to eclipse the competition’s record time of 22:32 set in St. Paul, MN, in 2013.
