The COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel will appear in St. Paul, MN, from July 18-20 as part of this year’s vast Car Craft Summer Nationals event.
The COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel, presented by Snap-On Tools, has become a popular and anticipated part of automotive events across the country. The competition will return to the Land of 10,000 Lakes for the Car Craft Summer Nationals at St. Paul’s Minnesota State Fairgrounds in 2014. Four duels are scheduled during the huge three-day event in mid-July. The first match will take place on Friday, July 18th at 3:00 p.m. The following day duels are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and the final contest is set for 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
The Engine Builder Duel pits a pair of two-person teams head-to-head to determine which one can assemble and crank a Small Block Chevy engine in the shortest amount of time. The engine must run for one minute before a team is declared the winner. Armed with nothing but their knowledge, contestants are provided with the appropriate parts and tools to complete the build, and they may not ask for help from anyone in the audience. Both members of the winning team will receive a $250 COMP Cams® gift certificate, while runners up each get a $125 COMP® voucher. All of the 2014 participants will be trying to eclipse the competition’s record time of 22:32, which was set at this very event in 2013.
