2011 NSRA Street Rod Nationals – Louisville, KY
It was an exciting four days of duels that saw the youngest ever competitor at just 12 years old. During the first duel, held Thursday afternoon, Ronnie and Casey Geeslin of Team COMP® turned in a super fast time of 34:25 and beat out Kagan Witt and Allison Rice of Team RHS®. Friday morning Team RHS® picked up its first win when Peter and Tony Satherny edged out Steve and Logan Tatalousch of Team COMP®. Later that afternoon, a large crowd saw Kyle and John Boris defeat Cory Potts and Debby Douray. One of the most exciting duels took place Saturday morning when Gary and Brett Laird beat out Harry and Harrison Newman by just 4:34. In the afternoon competition, Jeff Altemus and Randy Anderson of Team COMP® beat Greg and Tyler Redden of Team RHS® and earned the second spot in the championship round. Ronnie and Casey Geeslin came back as Team COMP® for Sunday’s Grand Champion match and set the fastest time of the Street Rod Nationals. Completing their build in just 27:27, they beat out Jeff Altemus and Randy Anderson who switched to Team RHS® for the final competition.
Power Tour 2011
Both entertaining and educational, the COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel presented by Snap-On Tools engages automotive enthusiasts and casual observers alike whenever it’s held. Despite the heat, both duels held on the 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour drew big crowds. At the Nashville, TN, stop, Scotty Schehan and Kevin Gass of team COMP Cams® faced off against Tim Weber and Ken Farris of team RHS®. With a near-record time of 26:31, team COMP Cams® pulled out a blazingly fast win. The Hot Rod staff filmed the exciting Nashville Duel and will have video footage available on their website soon. In Indianapolis, IN, Mark Reese and Jeff Williams of team RHS® narrowly beat Milton Kinnison and Marcus Wilson of team COMP Cams®. Just three minutes separated the two teams. COMP Cams® will bring the popular Engine Builder Duel to the Street Rod Nationals on August 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, KY. Power Tour 2010
Day 4
Kevin Gass and Scotty Schehan of Team RHS® won the first Engine Duel of 2010 in Bowling Green, KY. They completely assembled their engine in 30 minutes and 15 seconds. Team COMP® members Michael Frommholz and Michael Forchiane finished exactly one minute later at 31:15.
Day 5
The following day, in Chattanooga, TN, Team COMP® won. Teammates Jake Kretzschmar and Arlando Johnson beat out Brad Pierson and Dave Freeman to win with a time of 32:19. This may have been the most exciting duel, as spectators watched the COMP® Team’s carburetor catch on fire and the RHS® Team’s engine drop several oil pan bolts as soon as it fired up.
Day 6
Tim Weber and Ken Ferris set a new Engine Builder Duel record in Birmingham, AL, by completely assembling their engine in just 26:08. That’s the fastest time by any team that has ever competed in the COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel. Birmingham Power Tour visitors also saw the first ever husband and wife team compete in the duel. Danny and Lisa Morson, of Team RHS®, came in a close second and dedicated their performance to their 4-month-old twins.
